The short answer
Ceramic coating in Nashville and Middle Tennessee is priced per vehicle, and the price is mostly labor. The coating itself — the bottle — is a small part of the job. What you're paying for is the day of preparation that has to happen before the coating touches the paint, and the skill of the person doing it.
That's why we quote coatings individually instead of publishing a flat price. A brand-new white SUV and a three-year-old black sedan that's been through a hundred automatic washes are not the same job, and pretending they are means one of those customers overpays.
The five things that set the price
- Vehicle size. Surface area is time. A Miata, a Camry, and a Suburban are three different days.
- Paint condition. This is the big one. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so swirled or hazy paint needs correction first. Light enhancement polishing might add a few hours; a full multi-step correction on neglected black paint can double the job.
- Prep depth. Every real coating install includes a decontamination wash, iron and tar removal, clay bar, and a panel wipe to strip oils. A quote that skips prep is a quote for a coating that will fail early.
- Coating tier. Professional coatings come in tiers — roughly, how many years of protection they're rated for. Longer-rated products cost more and take more care to apply.
- What else you want coated. Wheels, glass, and trim are separate add-ons. Worth it on some vehicles, not on others — a good installer will tell you which.
Why cheap quotes are cheap
If one quote is dramatically lower than the others, it's almost always one of three things: a consumer-grade spray coating being sold as a professional one, prep and correction being skipped, or the paint being coated with defects still in it. None of those show up on installation day. They show up in six months, when the coating is patchy and the swirls are still there — now sealed under it.
The honest test: ask what the prep includes and whether the paint will be polished before coating. If the answer is vague, the price is telling you why.

Decontamination and prep are always included. Correction (machine polishing to remove swirls) is quoted separately after we've seen the paint, because the amount needed varies enormously between vehicles.
